- Milton D. Miller ll, KB5TKF left a note asking if anyone has used
- the subject nos setting. I expect the answer is not very many hams are
- even aware of the 2 smtp modes available. It talks to the problem of
- "default settings". We (I at least) tend to assume the good people that
- write the code know what's best....
-
- But if your trying to use view.exe as your external mailer for
- jnos 1.10xx then you need to know about smtp mode. Why use view.exe? I do
- that because I'm running widows and it is nice to use my own editor I
- love to write my smtp messages. The nos editor sucks; but it's better
- than nothing, almost...
-
- So here is what you do if you plan to use an external mailer. In
- your autoexec.nos put a line in that is like this:
-
- smtp mode queue
-
- Then make sure you have a \spool\rqueue directory. Then re-configure your
- view.exe to use that directory. Your home free!
-
- I don't have recient experiance with the other external mailers
- but I have heard about problems...if you want to try view it can be
- obtained by FTP from the ucsd.edu /hamradio/packet/tcpip/incoming
- directory and have fun...
